Restarting your eero™ device is a quick and easy way to fix slow speeds, dropped connections, or general Wi-Fi issues. This short guide walks you through when to restart and how to do it using a method that works best for you.
When Should You Restart?
You might want to restart your eero™ device if:
-
Your WiFi is slower than usual
-
Devices won’t stay connected
-
You’ve recently changed wiring or setup
-
You’ve been asked to by a Surf Internet support agent
Option 1: Power Cycle Your eero™
This is the simplest and most common way to restart:
-
Unplug your eero™ from the power outlet.
-
Wait 30 seconds.
-
Plug it back in.
-
Wait 2–3 minutes for the light to turn solid white—this means it’s back online.
💡 This works for all eero™ devices, whether it’s your main router or an additional unit.
Option 2: Restart Using the eero™ App
You can restart your eero™ router directly from the app:
-
Open the eero™ app.
-
Tap on the eero™ you want to restart.
-
Scroll down and tap Restart eero.
The device will go offline for a couple of minutes, then come back online automatically.
Option 3: Restart Your Whole Network
If you want to restart all your eero™ devices at once:
-
Open the eero™ app.
-
Go to Settings > Advanced > Restart Network.
-
Confirm your choice.
Your entire network will restart. WiFi will briefly disconnect, then reconnect once all devices are back online.
What to Expect
-
You’ll lose WiFi for a few minutes during the restart.
-
Lights on your eero™ may blink or go dark—this is normal.
-
Devices should reconnect automatically once your network is restored.
If your WiFi doesn’t return within 5 minutes, try a manual restart or contact Surf support.
